Resilient roots 2024 Hair campaign
As a hair stylist dedicated to the beauty and richness of Black hair and culture, my work is deeply rooted in the celebration and education of Black heritage through hair artistry. Over the years, I have honed my skills and expanded my knowledge to better understand and appreciate the historical and cultural significance of Black hair.
My journey is driven by a passion to showcase the inherent beauty of Black hair and to challenge misconceptions and fears surrounding it. Through my work, I aim to inspire others to recognize and respect the profound history and diverse styles that Black hair encompasses. It is crucial for me that people educate themselves and approach Black hair with admiration and authenticity
The hair and makeup industry often displays a significant gap in understanding and catering to Black hair and skin. Bridging this divide is at the heart of my practice. My exhibitions and projects, including my latest endeavour, “Resilient Roots,” are not only a testament to my commitment to mastering contemporary and traditional Black hair techniques but also a platform for raising awareness and fostering respect.
Through “Resilient Roots,” I strive to celebrate the resilience and beauty of Black hair, honouring its past while pushing forward with innovative styles and practices. This exhibition is a continuation of my mission to bridge the knowledge gap in the industry and to uplift and empower the Black community through the art of hairstyling.
In every strand and style, I aim to tell a story of heritage, strength, and beauty, inviting viewers to look beyond the surface and appreciate the rich tapestry of Black hair, Black skin and Black culture.
